Innovation for Growth Programme, Lancaster University Management School - Invention, Innovation and Marketing

Date: Thursday 26th January 2012 from 09.00am to 16.30pm

Venue: Boardroom, Daresbury SIC

A one day intensive workshop followed by a half day bespoke consultancy to assist high tech SMEs to market and sell more effectively.

To benefit from this free workshop and consultancy eligible SMEs need an interest in how strategic marketing based upon customer needs and market segmentation can lead to greater business efficiency and a competitive advantage. Priority is given to SMEs in the advanced engineering, energy and biomedical sectors.
The Programme:

The importance of customer contribution to innovation
Tools and techniques for professional marketing
Customer needs and market segmentation
Selling techniques for high tech businesses
Three hour consultancy to embed learning
Subsequent production of a simple, actionable one-page marketing plan

The workshop is led by Sarah Galbraith an industrial consultant with a wealth of experience in consultancy, training and development. Having spent ten years in pure research in the chemical industry she followed that with a number of high profile marketing and business management roles before founding The Galbraith Muir Consultancy in 1998. Since then her skills and experience have been in great demand especially in sales, marketing and related areas where she specialises in linking high technology enterprises to the worlds of customer expectations, service and delivery of value added. 

The guest speaker will be Greg Colley of Suave Air Photos who will be talking about his experience of the importance of listening to customers in his business. Suave is an aerial photography business that uses high tech remote control helicopters capable of capturing image data in various forms. 

This programme is fully funded through the European Regional Development Agency for eligible companies.
